Short Bio
Tamami Maitland is a singer-songwriter and jazz pianist based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Since 2021, she has been selected to perform at showcases and festivals across BC including DTES Artist Showcases, Vines Art Festival, Powell Street Festival, Vancouver Mural Festival and more. This year, she completed her first international tour in Japan, performing at 13 venues across the country. In the fall of 2023, she was invited to perform at the RiverFest in New Westminster and the Moon Festival in Vancouver. Growing up in Japan, she was influenced by music from Studio Ghibli, Japanese culture, and poetry. The lyrics of her original songs often revolve around nature, seasons, and love, similar to traditional Japanese poetry. With extensive jazz education from Berklee College of Music (MA, USA) and Capilano University (BC, Canada), she has developed her unique musical style that blends various genres such as jazz, pop, R&B, and soul. Her music can be described as soothing, groovy, melodic, and rich in harmony .

Japan Tour Planning
One of my goals of writing and performing music is to connect with people through music. After the long difficult time we all went through with the world pandemic, I’m convinced more than ever that it’s time to do what I wanted to do for a long time: to travel back to Japan and perform. With Danny, we’re making a documentary film of the whole process from the planning stage until the completion of the tour, because we believe that the road itself to the destination is as important and meaningful as the destination itself. We hope to meet many people and get inspired, and grow together through this journey.
In this Video : Part 6 of Japan Jazz Tour 2023 YouTube @advisordanny, I talk about how I wrote two of my songs "Sky Canvas" and "Orange Sky Island"

Interview
I had an opportunity to be interviewed by Abhinaya Natesh, a reporter/journalist from the local news paper Burnaby Now. I had a wonderful time speaking with her, talking about music, different cultures and languages, poetry and more. You can read the full article here. Thank you very much for the opportunity Abhinaya and Burnaby Now!!
Interview
I spent wonderful afternoon with Advisor Danny who interviewed me last week! We talked about where I came from, what inspires me to write/play music, such as Forest Bathing while we walked around Deer Lake in Burnaby BC Canada. There were some charming surprises during the walk. Although it was my first time doing this kind of interview on camera,Danny made me feel very comfortable with his professional way and some laughter. I really enjoyed it and appreciate this opportunity. Thank you very much Danny!
